(Brookline, Mass. – March 17, 2025) The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health is pleased to announce that four staff members were accepted into a free, virtual Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) program at Framingham State University (FSU).  The program provides a fully funded pathway to a master’s degree and licensure, while allowing students to remain employed full time. The accepted staff members are Jamal Caraballo, Jacob Knight, Brianna Dewalt, and Julia O’Brien.

“We are incredibly proud,” said James Drake, Chief of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation at the Center. “This prestigious opportunity is an investment in both their professional growth and the future of community mental health. Their dedication to advancing their skills will directly strengthen the care we provide to those who need it most.”

This three-year program is made possible through a partnership between FSU and Metro South/West Workforce Board. A cohort of 20 bachelor’s level staff from 7 area community based behavioral health providers, including The Brookline Center, received full scholarships.

The Workforce Board cohort is funded exclusively by the Healthcare/Behavioral Health Hub Continuation Grant (Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund FY’21 Appropriation) and funds appropriated through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. This grant initiative is administered by Commonwealth Corporation on behalf of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and the Workforce Skills Cabinet.
