Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Outstanding care for the whole community.

The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health has a longstanding commitment to welcome and serve our Brookline and Greater Boston community.

We offer all people high quality, comprehensive, culturally responsive mental health care and community services while honoring race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, age, sex and fluidity of gender, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic, immigration or veteran status. Our staff strives to support and protect all people in an atmosphere open to fostering communication and dialogue regarding differences of all kinds.

The Center maintains an active diversity initiative to promote an inclusive community. When we launched this initiative over 25 years ago, we focused on raising awareness of multicultural issues affecting our staff and clients. As our insight deepened, we broadened our approach to challenging our understanding of differences and privilege through sharing personal narratives. Although we have learned and done much over the years, the Center’s Board and staff understand and believe that we must commit to continued learning and bold action. We will always journey towards greater inclusion, multiculturalism, racial justice, and equity. We believe it is the responsibility of our Board and staff to work towards this goal, alongside our community partners.

We affirm our support for the promotion of positive mental health and social justice for all in our community, with the goals of celebrating and respecting the diversity of all individuals, groups, and families.
