bryt’s ideal staffing model involves two full-time (2.0 FTE) dedicated staff: a Clinical Coordinator (Masters-level, typically a social worker or LMHC) who leads the direct work of clinical support, care coordination, and family engagement; and an Academic Coordinator (teacher or carefully selected aide/paraprofessional) who works with the student and their teachers to facilitate academic catch-up simultaneously with a return to a full schedule of classes. The Clinical and Academic Coordinators meet regularly (often daily) to ensure that they are aligned in supporting each student and family currently part of the SBBP community, and to coordinate scheduling to ensure that the bryt space is covered at all times.
Recognizing that not all schools are in position to dedicate two full-time staff members to bryt, The Brookline Center’s bryt Team works with each school to determine the best possible staffing pattern given existing resources, and to adjust the capacity of the school’s bryt intervention accordingly.
