Fundamental to the bryt Model is the development of an overall Student Support Plan for each participating student, focused on fully integrating each student back into full participation in school environment after an extended absence and/or a period of falling significantly behind in association with a mental health disruption. Each individualized Student Support Plan integrates a customized version of bryt’s four core support areas:
- Clinically-informed supports for students sets up and supports student goals, including check-ins, individual counseling, informal groups, diagnostic evaluations, staff and teacher consultation, crisis intervention, and therapeutic practices.
- Academic Coordination assists students in achieving course standards and learning objectives, including negotiated deadlines, workload modification, and adjusted grading options.
- Family Engagement supports establishing effective communication protocols with families and identifying additional community supports needed.
- Comprehensive Care Coordination supports ensuring that all adult stakeholders involved with each student understand the overall plan for that student and family, and their role within that plan, and are working in alignment to support the student and family, and additionally working with the family to ensure that school and community supports needed for long-term student success are put into place while the student participates in bryt.
The bryt service model is designed and implemented with maximal flexibility in order to adapt to the level of readiness and identified needs of each student and family.
