Helping our Town of Brookline partners focus on what they do best.
Housing stability. Elder wellbeing. Public safety. School success. We help Brookline thrive.
The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health works to make Brookline the strongest, healthiest community possible. As the Town of Brookline’s lead resource for mental health, we collaborate with agencies throughout Brookline. Our shared goal: greater stability, security, community connections, and a community where the wellbeing of everyone matters. Check out the current Town of Brookline partners.
Brookline Public Schools
With 32 clinicians in all 9 Brookline public schools, The Brookline Center is there every day to support children and their teachers and administrators. We provide on-site counseling and mentoring, observation and clinical assessment of students experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, and consultation and professional development to help staff respond more effectively to children’s mental health needs. Brookline Housing Authority
Job, food, and income insecurity can lead to or increase social emotional, and economic challenges. The Brookline Center partners with BHA to provide support to individuals and families in need living in Brookline public housing. Brookline Center clinicians provide counseling and social services to individuals and families as well as emergency financial assistance, Healthy Lives services, and wraparound case management for residents managing crises, such as job loss or domestic abuse. Together with BHA, we co-manage a transitional housing program for homeless families.
Brookline Police Department
Our relationship with the Brookline Police better prepares officers to manage public safety. Our joint Brookline Crisis Intervention Team helps officers to better recognize and understand mental health issues and develop solutions to prevent crises. Police may refer people to The Brookline Center 24/7 and we may send clinicians out with officers to support residents’ wellbeing. Together, these collaborations increase public safety and help people connect with appropriate services instead of entering the criminal justice system.
Brookline Council on Aging
In partnership with the Council on Aging, The Brookline Center supports elders in our community, consulting with the Council’s social workers to address the specific needs of individuals and addressing evolving community needs. Together, we support seniors struggling with a broad range of issues from depression and isolation, to financial or food insecurity, combining our resources to ensure elders get the care they need to live independently in the community.
Brookline Health Department
The Health Department’s Hoarding Task Force taps into the expertise of The Brookline Center, among other agencies and organizations, to help seniors in unsafe living conditions regain stability. We also collaborate in other ways: consulting on the needs of residents whose living conditions may suggest concerns, planning community programming, and more.
Team Brookline
The Town of Brookline’s official Boston Marathon team, Team Brookline raises funds and awareness for five partner charities that play an integral role in strengthening and enriching our community: The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center. Over the past five years Team Brookline runners, with local businesses and community support, have raised over $1.2 million, making a tangible impact in the lives of all who live, work, and go to school in Brookline.
